Samsung launches second versions of its folding phone's

About a month ago, Samsung secretly teased viewers of its Samsung Unpacked Launch event on its upcoming folding phone. This week, in Unpacked Part 2, it officially launched the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G, its second swat on the form factor. With Z Fold 2, everything is bigger.

The front screen now offers 7.6 inches of space on the main screen for full-size 6.2 inches, the original 4.6 inches, and the opened device to see 7.3 inches. The main screen is made of Samsung's Ultra Thin Glass, the front screen is Gorilla Glass Victus, and the rear is Gorilla Glass 6.

Samsung has re-engineered the hinge to incorporate pioneering new sweeper technology into the Galaxy Z Flip and allow the device to sit more like a laptop computer, open at an angle of 75 degrees to 115 degrees. This lets support Samsung Flex Mode, where compatible apps understand whether the display is open, closed, or otherwise deployed and has customized its user interface accordingly. For example, when half of the screen is opened, you can use the top half of the main screen as a viewfinder and control the camera on the lower half.

Extended use of that real estate comes in the form of multi-tasking with larger screens: three apps can run on the main screen or two on the front screen at a time. With compatible applications such as Microsoft Office, users can drag and drop items between apps, allowing them to do things like add a chart from an Excel spreadsheet to a PowerPoint presentation. Photographers can also show the viewfinder image on the front screen, allowing the subject to see how the picture will look and adjust their posture.

Like the Galaxy Note 20 announced last month, the Z Fold 2 supports links to Windows features and is compatible with Samsung DX connectivity for external monitors or Samsung Smart TVs.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes in 5G Mystic Black or Mystic Bronze, with optional custom hinges in Metallic Silver, Metallic Gold, Metallic Red or Metallic Blue; Units with custom hinges can only be ordered from Samsung and will be shipped directly to the customer. It is now available for pre-order at Samsung's Experience Stores or on the company's website for CAD $ 2,780 and can be purchased at Bell Canada (online and in stores) starting at Septa 18. Samsung says that the Z Fold2 is for 5G. People "move forward in their careers."
