Hear the Device Orchestra Covering the Ghostbusters Theme Using an Electric Toothbrush and Steam Iron
An inspired musician could use a lot as an instrument, but this time for a Halloween cover of the Ghostbusters theme song it goes in an unexpected direction. Device Orchestra is dedicated to posting music videos recorded only with the sounds of common home instruments. This is the work of a Finnish YouTuber who has been making gadget-powered covers since 2014 (via Wikitubia). This time, the Device Orchestra busted out 14 gadgets for its creation—including an electric toothbrush adorned with googly eyes.
An electric toothbrush with pipe cleaners for arms stands front and center, playing the familiar chorus in a tone similar to that of a music-inclined bumblebee. She may be the star of the show, but she has a lot of backup.
One row of recovery machines mimics the sound of synths, while another spins under a white sheet of electric toothbrushes. A typewriter clicks in the background, accompanied by the buzz of a body trimmer, a nail polishing device and an epilator (which is a hair removal device, in case you didn't know). And even though the iron doesn't contribute much to the overall structure, it does provide a visual effect by letting out puffs of steam to achieve a spooky vibe.
This cover is probably more satisfying to hear than the actual Ghostbusters theme. Hearing how the sounds of each instrument come together is interesting, yet surprisingly soothing. The staggering googly eyes are just an added plus.
