Google's Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have made their way into the world despite more than a few issues with the pre-order process and shipping, and now the company is selling an upgraded version of its Pixel Stand for wireless charging at your desk. However, this time around, Google is trying to justify the relatively higher price tag by offering faster charging. The new Pixel Stand can charge compatible phones with up to 23 watts, which is, incidentally, the fastest rate you'll find with the Pixel 6 Pro, while the Pixel 6 tops out at around 21 watts. It's a bit disappointing when plugged into a 30W charger but with the convenience of wireless it becomes more acceptable.

How does it compare to the latest iPhone 13 models? The fastest charging available falls short of the 27W-capable iPhone 13 Pro Max when plugged into a compatible charger, even though Apple's MagSafe fast wireless charging clocks in at 15 watts and the iPhone 13 Mini 12 watts.

As promised, there's a fan inside the new Pixel Stand that Google says is quiet enough to keep things cool even if you're charging over a long video call, a 30W PD 3.0 USB-C power adapter, and it can charge non-Pixel Qi-certified devices at up to 15W. The 30W charger and cable alone costs $35, but you won't get fast charging whether you're plugged in or not.

Orders are open now for the new 23W Pixel Stand on the Google Store, with a shipping date predicted to start in mid-December.

If you like the design and software but don't have a need for speed, the basic stand is available on Voot for $28.99. While that's a deep discount from the original price, and it comes with an 18W power adapter in the box, it's still $5 to $10 more than similar wireless chargers that can do just that, like the Belkin The The Ka 10W Stand is $24.99 or Anker's PowerWave Stand. Doesn't come with power adapter, but is available for sale for $19.49.
