Register now to improve your chances of getting a PS5 for the holidays

All signs point to Sony's PlayStation Store, which is opening the floodgates for another PS5 restock today at 2PM ET/11AM PT. However, before you get too excited, keep in mind that the chances of someone coming and going at that point are slim. That's because it's apparently being hosted for people who have received an invitation to purchase the console.

Sony opened registration for the PS5 Invitational in mid-October and promised it would host re-stocking events in November for those invited. So for today's recharge, there is a possibility that those who had registered in October can now get a chance to get consolation. If you missed registering a while ago, you should check your inbox now.

Thankfully, if you're just fumbling around to register, all hope is not lost. It's not the same as first come, first served. Getting an invite is actually based on some vague criteria, including past interests and PlayStation activity. Visit this registration page, sign in with your PlayStation Network ID, and register. Also, make sure you use the same email you used with your PSN ID to opt in to receive PlayStation marketing emails. You can do this by visiting this page, clicking "Notifications" in the list of options, and making sure the box next to "Receive email notifications" is checked.

There is speculation that some consoles may also be available to the public from Sony's site at 5 pm. ET, but I think your chances of getting lucky are slim. Hey, there's no harm in giving it a shot, at least. Good luck today and later in November as we get closer to Black Friday.
