Someone says they bought a prototype of the Pixel 7 Pro on the Facebook Marketplace

Another alleged Google Pixel 7 prototype has surfaced, this time a Reddit user says he bought it on the Facebook Marketplace. Visually, this is a Pixel 7 Pro, which Redditor AMC20_ says was listed as the unboxed Pixel 6 Pro. Actually, this is not Pixel 6 Pro.

Google's phones have had a long history of unusual leaks, but even by Pixel standards, it's an odd one. This is also the second time that a prototype Pixel 7 Pro has surfaced last week. In case you missed an episode of this saga, someone listed a Pixel 7 prototype on eBay. As pointed out by Android expert Mishaal Rahman, the photos have been taken with another prototype unit - a Pixel 7 Pro, which can be seen in the reflection on the phone's glossy back panel. The person who bought the 7 Pro prototype on Facebook thinks that his phone is the one that took those photos.

Google pre-announced the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro at its I/O keynote last month, revealing what the device will look like and... nothing more. They will make their formal debut with Android 13 in October. These alleged prototypes haven't shed much light on what we can expect from the phone, either - just confirm that it's using a different modem than the Pixel 6 series and that it appears to pack 256GB. . Comes in a variant with storage and 12GB RAM.

We probably can't learn much from this. The buyer of the alleged prototype said that the phone was working fine until a few days ago when it looked like it had been remotely wiped. This should come as no surprise - if this is the original article, Google would have such a protective cover in case the phone goes missing. But given the track record of the Pixel series, it probably won't be long until we see another leak.
