The Sims 4 High School Years Expansion Adds a Depot-Built 'Virtual Thrift Store'
Later this month, clothing from fashion marketplace Depop will be available in an expansion pack for The Sims 4 called High School Years (via Polygon). Depop describes itself as a "circular" and "community-driven" online resale site and app that allows users to buy and sell items of vintage clothing, mostly at discounted rates.
In the expansion pack, Sims characters will experience a "rollercoaster of puberty," complete with events like prom, school pranks, and class-cutting abilities.
Teenage Sims now have a chance to become a fashion "symfluencer" and earn Simoleons, the game's in-app currency, using trendy apps like Depop. Simfluencers will be able to purchase their own items from the in-game thrift store called Thriftia and curate their own outfits to set the trend.
The clothes featured in the game will be designed by real-life Depot vendors like Lapos McTribouy (@judaku), Shan D'Anthes (@furrylittlepeach), and Selena Williams (@selenasshop), bringing in a variety of styles inspired by their shops. , ,
"The collaboration with Depot for The Sims 4 High School Years Expansion Pack has allowed us to create unique and creative looks that share today's fashion trends and how Gen-Z shops and fashions, so that players can enjoy an authentic gameplay." Provide experiences as they help Sims make the most of their teen years,” said Julia Victor, head of The Sims brand.
The Sims 4 High School Years will be available on Thursday, July 28 via Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and EA Origin.
