The GoPro Hero11 Black will reportedly have a new sensor and an older design

GoPro is reportedly getting ready to launch its next camera, but don't hold your breath for a major redesign. Instead, going by the images and specifications first spotted by WinFuture, it appears that the GoPro Hero11 Black will look almost identical to the Hero10, and all the major changes will be inside.

The biggest upgrade seems like a new sensor, which WinFuture says will be capable of 27-megapixel still images. (The current Hero 10 Black, for comparison, shoots 23-megapixel photos.) Video resolution doesn't look like that's changing, though: the new model is still 5.3K at 60 frames per second, or 4K at 120 fps . will be out. , Details about the new sensor are scant at the moment, but a slightly larger sensor with similar resolution could also be a win for shooting in low light.

Beyond that, it doesn't look like GoPro isn't messing with its hardware. Which actually makes sense: GoPro's mount and accessory ecosystem is a big part of the company's appeal, and the Hero 9 was a big change from just two years ago, so GoPro is smart to stick with its original size. And along with major changes to last year's processors, a new sensor will fit into the upgrade path this year. The leaked Hero11 images so far look identical to the Hero 10 except for the blue colored "11" where there was once a "10". (Because, you know, the upgrade!) It still has a 2.27-inch screen on the back and a 1.4-inch screen on the front, big rubberized buttons, and that overall GoPro feel.

A small improvement would match what GoPro CEO Nick Woodman told investors in February. He added that the company is planning to launch new Hero and Max cameras this year, with a total of four cameras from the two lines. "And we expect to expand this further by the end of 2023," Woodman said. Much of the company's focus is on software, both inside the cameras and in the Quicken app. GoPro is working hard to diversify its offerings, and is finding ways to put its cameras in the hands of more than just your typical thrilling GoPro customer.

Based on what we know so far, the Hero 11 Black will be a GoPro through and through. WinFuture reports that the device may arrive in the middle of this month. No word yet on price, either, which GoPro needs to change the most if it wants its tiny camera to captivate the masses.
