Adobe Lightroom Latest Updates Detetes Photos permanently from iPhone and iPad's | Loss Unrecoverable says Adobe

Some customers who installed the latest version 5.4.0 of Adobe Lightroom on their iPhone and / or iPad have permanently deleted their photos and presets, and the loss cannot be recovered for those without a backup.

"We know that some customers have non-refundable images and presets. We know how frustrating and annoying people affected by this are, and we sincerely apologize."

This major bug affected customers who were using Lightroom mobile without an Adobe cloud subscription, as well as Lightroom cloud customers who did not sync their photos and presets with the Adobe cloud, according to the company.

However, even users with a subscription complain about the loss of photos and presets after updating to Lightroom 5.4.0 on their iPad or iPhone. “After automatic update to Lightroom mobile 5.4 on my iPad Pro (active subscription), my entire library is lost. I tried to restore my iPad from backup, and it restored my 50GB lightroom library (shown in iPad Preferences / Storage), BUT as soon as I tried to start the app, it again deleted the entire library. Also, looking back in Preferences, Lightroom is now downgraded from 50GB to 500MB, so in effect, the release of the new version 5.4 of the app removes the library. I still have that iCloud backup though, so please fix this very urgent error, so I can try to restore again when it is fixed. I need my library ... ”said Christoph Willerscheidt, a Lightroom customer on the company's forum.

The company says that Lightroom Classic, Lightroom Desktop on Windows and macOS, Lightroom Mobile on Android, as well as all Lightroom cloud assets remain safe and intact. Customers affected by this problem can use iPhone and iPad backups to recover photos and presets.

Adobe has now released a new version of Lightroom mobile (5.4.1) for iOS and iPadOS to prevent the incident from recurring.

"Installing version 5.4.1 will not restore missing photos or presets for customers affected by the issue introduced in 5.4.0," says Adobe.
