I'm obsessed with a wand in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen

I'm obsessed with a wand in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen. It's a sentence I never thought I'd utter before the new Glav weapons arrived in the game last week. Released as part of an expansion to The Witch Queen, the Glove is a powerful and versatile ... or "stabbing murder sticks", as Bungie described the glove last week. You can shoot and kill enemies at close range, shoot a projectile from afar, or block an attack.

I've been hooked on the Glaive ever since it dropped at the start of The Witch Queen campaign. I really feel invincible with the Glew in Destiny 2, and it's the first new weapon type in years that has made such an immediate impact on the way I play the game.

When I first started using the Glav, it felt intriguing and unique, allowing me to attack and annihilate enemies in ways I'd never been able to before in Destiny 2. The projectile takes some mastery and skill, and I found interception right when I was about to reload without cover, or when I underestimated an enemy screamer blasting you from above.

One thing I was really disappointed about was how slow it was to reload and use effectively. But by overhauling how the Glav feels, you can unlock more powerful features. Thanks to Destiny 2's new weapon crafting system where the new Enigma Glav gets really interesting is when you start to level it up and unlock these perks. I chose the Impulse Amplifier and Frenzie Perks, which dramatically improve reload speed, projectile speed, handling, and damage.

The glaive feels completely different thanks to these perks, and my favorite pastime in Destiny 2 now is running up to a group of enemies and stunning them with a stick in melee. I now find myself barely using any other weapon. I have become crazy about gloves.

When you melee using Glav, you don't even use special ammo, so it's an effective way to clear a group of enemies at a low cost. I have found an even more efficient way to achieve this; I've equipped the "Suppressing Glove" perk from Seasonal Artifacts. It once again replaces the Glav, allowing you to stun enemies with just one gleeful melee attack.

This suppression works on practically every enemy type, including challenging higher level enemies. So you can run in a group and stun yellow-bar enemies with just your Glav before working your way through the rest. Once you're done, come back to the yellow bars and eliminate them as they heal from being buried. This doesn't work against most owners, but for the rest it makes clearing activities a lot easier.

I can't wait to unlock the alien versions of the glove. Each class will get its own unique alien glove. The Titan class can use their alien Glav to form a protective shield around fellow Guardians, similar to the Void Bubble super mechanic. Warlocks can deploy healing turrets with their Glavs, which will complement the healing aspects of the Solar and Void subclasses for Warlocks. Hunters will unleash an arc of Chain Lightning that tracks enemies with their gloves.

There's something very satisfying about slaying enemies up close in first-person, and Destiny 2's swords don't offer the same level of satisfaction. I'm sure the Alien Glove will only further my obsession with Destiny 2's new stabbing sticks.
