Microsoft has moved to the "Windows 11 2022 Update" nomenclature instead of the 22H2 Update moniker it's been using for months. This new simplified naming comes as the software maker is committed to releasing annual updates for Windows 11, despite recent rumours. "We will still have an annual release that will be available once per year, and that will be available in the second half of the year," Nikki Trovinger, senior director of Windows product marketing, said in an interview with The Verge.

"Saying. “We will accelerate the availability of the offering in the first weeks as we monitor quality signals. If we detect that there may be a problem with your device, such as an application incompatibility, we may impose a security freeze and Don't offer updates until that issue is resolved.
Along with several new features and improvements, this update will significantly reduce the download size of these big Windows 11 feature updates. Microsoft estimates that the download size should be reduced by about 450MB for many Windows 11 users, and the installation time of the monthly cumulative update has also improved.
