New iPad mini may be a year away

Apple is updating its iPad mini with a new processor, says respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The Inbetweener is scheduled to start shipping by the end of 2023 or the first half of 2024.

The iPad mini received a completely new design in late 2012 after remaining completely unchanged in late 2021. (10.9 in). It is powered by the A15 Bionic chip with USB-C port and has the option of 5G connectivity. Kuo says the new processor will be "the main selling point," so we shouldn't expect much to change.

If Kuo's timeline is correct, the iPad mini will definitely be ready for a chip update after two years. This could mean inheriting the A16 from the current top-of-the-line iPhone 14 Pro, or even the M-series chip used by the iPad Air and iPad Pro. It looks like we'll find out as soon as next fall, when Apple usually reveals its pre-holiday lineup of hardware.
